
Jan Schulmeister (*2006) - a finalist and the holder of the 3rd prize from the prestigious world competition The Cliburn Junior Competittion 2023.
Jan already belongs to the sixth generation of musicians. The founder of the musical tradition of the František Černý family, he was a pupil of Antonín Liehmann and a classmate of Antonín Dvořák.
He brought home his first gold trophy from Milan, Italy, when he was 7 years old. His piano skills have been recognized by juries at prestigious competitions in the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Austria, Estonia, Belgium and the USA. During his still relatively short musical career, he has won more than forty first prizes or absolute victories at competittions around the world.
Thanks to his competition successes, Jan collaborates with prominent orchestras and conductors. In the field of chamber music, he performs regularly with violinist Daniel Matejča and the Wihan Quartet. As a soloist, he appears not only on Czech stages but also internationally, including Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Italy, Austria and North Macedonia. He is also a frequent quest at prestigious music festivals such as Prague Spring, Dvořákova Praha and Smetana´s Litomyšl.
In 2018, he became a member of the PETROF Art Family. He is a scholarship holder of the Komárek Family Foundation and during the 2018/2019 season participated in the MenArt scholarship programme organized by the Magdalena kožená Endowment Fund.
Jan´s artistic journey so far is documented on six albums released by PETROF and ArcoDiva. Most recently, he has started a collaboration with SUPRAPHON, under which his two debut albums have recently been released.
